Helping Hand Center provides recreational opportunities on a weekly basis in the late afternoon and on Saturday. These programs provide a variety of activities which reinforce social skills and encourage independence. They also provide structured experiences in which participants can have fun as well as meet new people.
It's all about creating projects that you can keep, give as gifts, or sell at craft fairs and events. A variety of art media and tools will be used, including markers, glitter, foam and beads. Program fee: $75 per month/$225 per quarter.
Come learn all the cool dance moves and get a workout along the way. Learn dance moves that you can show off at the Special Recreation Banquet and at other special events throughout the year. Program fee: $80 per month/$240 per quarter.
A great way to exercise, learn the rules of sports, and how to work as a team. Our Special Olympics team will compete in a variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, track & field and softball. Times may vary on the program due to games against other Special Recreation teams and tournaments. A schedule will be given out in advance. Please note, transportation will be provided on a very limited basis for this program. Program fee: $80 per month/$240 per quarter.
A fun-filled afternoon that consists of music, drama, improvisational activities and more. Participants get a chance to sing their favorite songs and play several different instruments with support from our talented music staff. They will also put on their own play once a year. Program fee: $80 per month/$240 per quarter.
This program will give participants the opportunity to learn how to make a healthy meal or snack, discover how to make exercise fun, and learn how to make living a healthy lifestyle easy and enjoyable. We will be consulting with a certified nutritionist on the activities we participate in and the recipes we will be making. Program fee: $75 per month/$225 per quarter.
Game on! Every Friday afternoon our participants will enjoy a day of socialization through a variety of games. The group will experience friendly competition and fun through board games, video games, sports, and other activities. Program fee: $80 per month/$240 per quarter.
Spend time with friends in a variety of activities that promote socialization and leisure planning. Museums, athletic games, snack making, and movies are just some of the ways we'll spend Saturday afternoons. We will go on at least two community outings per month. Clients are required to pay for any admission cost. Program fee: $75 per month/$225 per quarter.
