Subcon Packing & Assembly is a division of Helping Hand Center that provides a unique supervised environment for real-world vocational training and also functions as a revenue-generating job-shop.
On the vocational side, Subcon staff work closely with Helping Hand Case Managers and Employment Services to provide a constructive, supportive forum that allows individuals to get used to schedules, learn how to multi-task, work as part of a team and adhere to quality control standards.
As part of a contract packaging organization, the Subcon sales team has forged relationships with clients throughout the Chicagoland area who contract Subcon's services. These include repackaging of food items for retail sale, quality control inspection for a hardware distributor, assembly of household products and repackaging products for a major health and beauty company. Other services include injection molding, manufacturing metal products, a direct mail operation and printing.
To ensure Subcon continues to generate a substantial revenue stream every year, its management team works closely with the Executive Staff and Board of Directors of Helping Hand to determine an annual plan that includes a budget, marketing strategies, operational initiatives, sales goals and profit forecasts.
Subcon, which was established in 1962, represents the ultimate integration of opportunity, training and action.
