Education Series - CANCELLED - Get on the Radar…Sign Up for PUNS
This educational event was scheduled to be held this Friday, March 14. This session had been cancelled but anyone interested is welcome to meet with our Transition Outreach Specialist for a wealth of information that will help you understand PUNS (Prioritization for Urgency of Need for Services), how to sign up for the PUNS list, and why it is vital to your child’s services now and in the future.

Helping Hand Center in the News!
A few weeks ago, more than 25 Cub Scouts and their parent’s spent a Saturday morning spending some time playing games and socializing with our clients who live in our homes in the local community. Annual Family Pasta Supper!
The 8th Annual Pasta Party was a true community event!  Over 300 clients, family members, staff,  and volunteers enjoyed an evening of music, dinner, dancing, activities, and networking.  Thank you to the Family Network for another great event!Also, thank you to the Ogden Avenue School 6th Grade class and parents for their contributions to this event.  In addition to their volunteer service, the Ogden Avenue School community provided desserts, decorations and activities to make this a special night for everyone. The” 8th Notch Band”  from Electro Motive Diesel rocked the Wellness Center with their energizing music.  Starbucks, Countryside donated their delicious coffee for this event. Thank You Family Network – Successful Fashion Show!
Many thanks to the Family Network Leaders headed up by Eileen St. Clair for organizing and hosting a very successful Fashion Show!  Eileen had a wonderful group of people who made this a terrific event.  Their hard work provided Helping Hand Center more than $3,500 in profits as a donation to the organization.  Clients and families enjoyed the many raffles, delicious food, fabulous fashion and wonderful fellowship that this special event provided.  We are so grateful!!  And the clients and staff looked wonderful – as always!!

Programming

Employment Services Department getting people jobs!
Our Employment Services Department is very busy with spring hiring. We prepared and helped get 2 of our clients great jobs in the home improvement industry. Another one of our clients had an interview and is waiting to hear back from the employer…keep your fingers crossed. This is all great news and our clients are making so much progress with the help from our employment services team!

A Very Special Valentine Day Party
Our adult clients threw a huge party on Valentine's Day in our Recreation Center. Clients danced and played games with friends, volunteers, and staff. Everyone had an awesome Valentine's Day! Valentine Day Grams
Last month for Valentine’s Day, our clients and staff made 600 cookies and sold 300 cookie grams during the week of Valentine’s Day.  This fundraiser brought in almost $150 to benefit our day program.  We plan to do more events like this in the future so when you drop in Helping Hand Center be looking for flyers!

Special Olympics Basketball Team
Our very own Helping Hand Wildcats were chosen to participate in the Illinois Special Olympics State Basketball tournament in Bloomington-Normal this coming weekend, March 14-16. Good Luck, Enjoy & Go Wildcats!
