Partnership with the Family
Family involvement is critical to the success of our program. We rely on a collaborative relationship with each family. Our school provides family outreach, home visits and program development in the home based on an assessment of each family’s needs. We offer family training and support on an on-going basis to assure a successful partnership. We help families develop knowledge and skills so their child can generalize skills acquired at school into the home and participate more actively as a part of their family.
We also offer several ways that parents can become involved in the Helping Hand parent community.
Every month our Children’s Services offers a free Parent Network Night. Generally, this event takes place on the third Thursday of the month from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. Topics vary but are always related to areas of interest of parents of children with delays or disabilities. We invite guest speakers to present information at the sessions. We are sure to make time for refreshments and networking. (Currently there is no child care for this event.)
Helping Hand has a thriving Family Association that provides myriad ways to become involved with the agency. From family events to fundraising for the agency, our Family Association is a great way to get involved in our community.
Our Marketing & Development Department is excited to get to know you! If you would like to receive our seasonal newsletter The Hand Print or our monthly e-bulletin please let us know.
